WHEN SHOULD MY CHILD VISIT A DENTIST FOR THE FIRST TIME?
We generally recommend that children come in for the first time after their 1st birthday! These visits can be quick and comfortable and identify any big developmental problems. They’re also very helpful when it comes to your child feeling comfortable and right at home at our practice from a very early age. Young patients, from newborns all the way up to teenagers, are welcome here!
WHAT CAN WE LOOK FORWARD TO WHEN WE ARRIVE?
Inside our waiting room at KidZaam Dentistry, young patients can look forward to finding a world that’s practically right out of their own imagination! A sweet bubblegum scent fills the space, kid movies and video games are available for entertainment, not to mention face-painting, temporary tattoos, and much more. When it’s time to get started, children who are old enough will be invited to put on their very own lab coat and fluorescent goggles as they go into Doc’s laboratory. At every stage of the appointment, making sure your loved one is having fun is always our top priority!
Once children are settled in the treatment chair, parents can rest assured that we’ll personalize our approach to match their age and level of emotional maturity. A quick and gentle checkup will commence, during which our Kidzologists will review their teeth (both “baby” and permanent), their gum tissue and any developmental concerns we may notice. If they’re old enough, we may also recommend a cleaning to get rid of tricky plaque and bacteria. Being able to banish D.K. is always rewarding! We’ll be sure to review any problems or damage we discover with you (the parent) in full, working together to devise the best treatment plan possible.
Finally, it’ll be time for your child to spin the toy wheel and get a prize, as well as their very own membership card that they can bring in during each appointment for an EXTRA spin! Balloons, wristbands and other fun trinkets are also available to remind them of their experience at KidZaam Dentistry. We hope that by the time you’re back in the car, they’re already asking when they can visit us again!
