Today, there are too many adults who fear dentists because of a bad experience they had as a child. At KidZaam Dentistry, our top priority is giving young patients an exciting and entertaining journey towards lifelong oral health! If your child still isn’t feeling comfortable during their appointment despite our best efforts to help them have fun, sedation dentistry is available to create a calmer, more relaxed atmosphere. These techniques are also helpful for special needs patients, who are always welcome!

Please don’t hesitate to contact us today at 855-KID-ZAAM to learn more, or if you’re ready to schedule a first appointment with our team. We want every child to feel right at home alongside the KidZaam Kommandos! Come to one of our three convenient locations for quality sedation dentistry in Prescott, Cottonwood and Prescott Valley, Arizona.

NITROUS OXIDE SEDATION
Nitrous oxide has another, much more familiar name, “laughing gas!” While it might not make your child laugh, it should help them feel relaxed and even sleepy. They’ll breathe in the gas through a mask that fits over their nose, and the effects both start and end within minutes. That means your little one can get right back to having fun in our waiting room and enjoying the rest of the day ahead with minimal downtime.

ORAL CONSCIOUS SEDATION
Is your child old enough to be able to swallow a pill or a special juice successfully? Then oral conscious sedation might be the right choice for them! After they’ve taken their medication, children are likely to become deeply relaxed and drowsy—they may even fall asleep. However, they should not become fully unconscious. Make sure your child does not eat or drink anything past midnight before their oral conscious sedation appointment at KidZaam Dentistry. Following their visit with our dental Kidzologists, it’s important that you keep a close eye on them until they’ve fully recovered from the sedation.

HOSPITAL ADMINISTERED IV SEDATION
Our Kidzologists typically only recommend this option for patients with special needs, extremely apprehensive children or very young children. The sedation medication will be administered through an IV. This allows the dosage to be adjusted to create the most comfortable experience possible. Your child will become extremely drowsy and should fall asleep. Please follow all the instructions listed above under ORAL CONSCIOUS SEDATION when preparing for your child’s appointment!
